sauce ingredients
  • Chicken wings. Rinse and trim 3 pounds of chicken party wings (flats and drumettes). Love chicken? Check out our brown sugar glazed chicken recipe next!
  • Baking powder. To help the chicken wings crisp nicely in the oven. Do NOT use baking soda! I recommend aluminum-free baking powder.
  • Spices. I love to flavor my chicken wings with garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  • Honey gold wing sauce. While the wings are cooking in the oven, whip up a batch of my homemade Memphis honey gold wing sauce for coating.

Variations and Substitutions

  • Make this recipe with whole chicken wings, tenders, or bites! Just be sure to adjust cooking times and methods accordingly.
  • You may substitute cornstarch for baking powder to help the wings crisp up.
  • Season your chicken with your favorite combination of spices to switch up the flavors.
  • Try honey gold wing sauce as a dip for fries or veggies, to coat salmon or pork, or as a spread for sandwiches and wraps. If you love sauces, you don't want to miss our Mississippi comeback sauce recipe!

Can I make this recipe with deep-fried chicken wings?

Yes. Feel free to deep fry your chicken wings in hot oil instead of baking for extra crispiness.

Make Ahead and Storing Instructions

You can make the honey gold sauce up to 2 days in advance and store it in the fridge in an airtight container until ready to serve.
