Ingredients for making guava barbecue chicken skewers arranged on a table top.
  • Chicken. We use boneless, skinless chicken breasts for this recipe but chicken thighs also work great.
  • Guava paste. Guava paste adds delicious island-inspired flavor and sweetness.
  • Tomato sauce. Any brand of regular tomato sauce works fine for this recipe.
  • Worcestershire sauce. This ingredient adds depth and umami flavor. See how I use Worcestershire sauce in my New Orleans BBQ Shrimp!
  • Lime juice. Freshly squeezed lime juice complements the guava pasta and other BBQ sauce ingredients beautifully.
  • Ginger. Fresh minced ginger adds fresh spicy flavor to our bbq sauce.
  • Spices. Smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and cayenne pepper add flavor to our chicken and sauce. Feel free to add or substitute your favorite spices.
