Important Ingredient Notes
The detailed ingredient list with measurements is in the recipe card at the bottom of this post.
- Peaches. You will need fresh, ripe peaches for this recipe. Peaches should give a little when gently squeezed but should not be mushy. Use extra peaches to make our fresh peach lemonade.
- Sugar. Granulated sugar makes this peach butter deliciously sweet.
- Cinnamon. A stick of fresh cinnamon adds spiciness and earthiness to this spread. Fresh cinnamon sticks make this mulled apple cider taste and smell incredible!
- Star anise. A fresh star anise pod adds spice, warmth, and a subtle licorice flavor.
- Cardamom. This complex spice adds citrusy, peppery, and minty notes

Spiced Peach Butter Recipe
Ingredients
- 5 to 6 medium peaches - enough for 2 cups of purée
- 1 cup granulated sugar - reduce for a less sweet sauce
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice - freshly squeezed
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 1 star anise pod
- ⅛ teaspoon ground nutmeg
- ⅛ teaspoon ground cardamom
Instructions
- Rinse, peel, and slice the peaches in half. Gently pull the haves apart and remove each pit.
- Transfer the peaches to a high powered blender and pulse until mostly smooth.
- Place the peaches, sugar, lemon juice, cinnamon stick, star anise pod, nutmeg, and cardamom in a medium saucepan. Bring the ingredients to a simmer over medium heat, stirring regularly. Lower the heat to medium low and simmer the sauce for 20 to 25 minutes, stirring regularly so it does not scorch, until smooth and thickened.
- Remove the cinnamon stick and star anise pod and allow the peach butter to cool before transferring to an airtight container for storage.
Notes
- Use a splatter guard while simmering peach butter to keep the stovetop clean.
- Leftover peach butter can be stored in the fridge in an airtight container for up to two weeks or frozen for up to six months.
